Founded in 1981 by Joseph “Run” Simmons, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels and Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizell, these acclaimed musicians crafted a unique sound that made an impact all over the world. They achieved their biggest success with hits like “It’s Like That,” “Walk This Way,” and “My Adidas.” Run-DMC was praised for their artistic skill as well as earning eight gold and platinum albums from 1984 to 2001. Awards such as being inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, number 12 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Artist list and winning the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award are just a few of their accomplishments. To this day, Run-DMC remains a beloved part of musical history that cannot be forgotten.
